How many facial expressions... I think there are far more pressing questions to be answered in this life such as... How many times must a man look up

Before he can see the sky?

Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have

Before he can hear people cry?

Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows

That too many people have died?

The answer my little friend is a blowin in da windHow many facial expressions does a human have?
73
It depends on the human. I know some who only have one, but most of us use dozens. There is a suitable (or unsuitable) expression for any occasion or circumstance. It is what we used before language was developed (see how expressive the great apes and monkeys are!
Wow hundreds - even face expressions when your asleep!!:) :0

:( :~)
There are 53 facial muscles. If we think of the different combinations possible with each muscle either being flexed or relaxed, there are 9,007,199,254,740,990 possible facial expressions.

Not everyone can do all of them. For example, I can wiggle both ears, but can't do them separately. I can raise my eybrows separately -- but some people can't.

On the other hand, who is to say that each muscle can be just flexed or relaxed. Perhaps we can get more facial expressions by flexing them part way. If we can do this in a continuous manner, the number of facial expressions is infinite.
