I'm 15 and I'm thinking of getting a facial done properly by a professional. I've got a few spots on my chin and forehead and lots of blackheads on my nose and cheeks. Will the facial make this worse or will it help to get rid of the blackheads and spots? And what do they normally use when doing the facial?What do they do in a facial?

First, there are different types of skincare specialists. Some have expertise in cosmetic level esthetics, some clinical/medical esthetics. Since they all fall under the esthy license the only way you will know is to ask.





I would first call and see about a consultation. Some charge and some do not. During this time they will analyse the skin and you can discuss a plan.





If you have a number of blackheads, they may begin with a pre-treatment phase. As for as the ';spots'; I can't help you since I have no idea as to what you mean by this. They can be hyperpigmentation or scars, so that doesn't help as there are different treatements for each.





Usually those products to begin loosening blackheads contain acids which will also affect the surface of the skin. This means that a sunscreen product will probably be needed as well.

Make sure when you make the appointment to ask if the facial includes extractions. This way they will bring all the blackheads out of the skin.





They will wash your face and normally apply some sort of mask. Some use steamers to open pores to clean them out.


They will put on some type of balancing toner and then a moisturizer.





It may look worse for a day or two as you need to have the pores opened and your face really cleaned.
